About the Project

Financial exclusion — the inability to access appropriate financial services — is a social problem attracting greater attention recently. For many low-income households, financial exclusion compounds their poverty. This 3-year research project seeks to understand the causes & consequences of financial exclusion in inner-cities neighbourhoods in Winnipeg, Toronto & Vancouver. The project also seeks to understand responses to foster financial inclusion & greater financial capability that come from community organizations, financial service providers and governments.
